Steve began his career as an assistant at Gateway Studios in 1988, having played in various Rock bands throughout the 80s. He eventually became in-house engineer at the studios, as well as teaching at Gateway's recording school. As well as working with Pop/Rock names like Elton John, Julian Lloyd-Webber and Gilbert O'Sullivan, Steve specialises in Jazz and World Music recording, having worked regularly with such names as Evan Parker, Aled Jones, Catherine Jenkins, Kenny Wheeler, ECM Records and BBC Radio 3. Since the joining of Phoenix Sound and Gateway Studios, Steve has been working regularly at Pinewood Studios, as well as travelling to Mali, recording local musician Kasse Mady.
