James began work as a tape-op at Lansdowne studios, London, in 1989 . He gained a great deal of experience in recording and mixing techniques from Lansdowne's wide ranging roster of clients. He moved to CTS studios, Wembley in 1993 as a house engineer where a range of differing musical projects from, pop and rock 'n roll, to, orchestral, TV & film, jazz, and voice-over work honed James' skill as a diverse and adaptable recording and mix engineer. James now works freelance and has recorded in many different studios, also becoming adept at programming and mixing in "project" environments, whilst still maintaining the orchestral and "where-to stick-a-mic" techniques learnt from over 15 years experience of recording some of the best musicians in the world. James also played an integral part in the design and installation of the new studio at Pinewood and will happily debate the quality of speakers, converters, microphones or indeed the coffee to the early hours of the morning. Some of his projects are listed on his personal web site.
